Welcome to the blog for the North Bay Stand Down, where you can check in and see what we're up to and learn how you can help the homeless and at-risk Veterans of Solano, Yolo, Napa and Sonoma counties.

The 2009 North Bay Stand Down is scheduled for October 13, 14, 15, 2009, at the Dixon Fairgrounds in Dixon, California.

If you are, or know of, a Veteran that would like to attend the Stand Down, and have more questions, please contact your local Veteran Services office in Solano, Yolo, Napa, or Sonoma Counties.

Contact phone numbers are:
Napa (707) 784-6590
Solano (707) 784-6590
Sonoma (707) 526-4218
Yolo (530) 406-4850

If you would like to volunteer, we can use your help! We will need many volunteers to help set up on Monday, October 12th (yes, it is a holiday so you may be available!) and then many more during the Stand Down to make this event a success. Volunteer forms are available at the North Bay Stand Down website,

The Veteran registration form is also on the North Bay Stand Down website. It is very, very helpful if our Veterans pre-register. Our County Veteran Services office will do all the preliminary work for the Veteran, so when he/she arrives, it will speed up the check-in process.

In addition, when preregistering, the Veterans should fill out the Court Intake Form if they require Court Services. In particular, Sonoma County requires that all Veterans who need to see the Sonoma County Judge during Stand Down MUST have their Court Intake Form submitted with their Registration Form by October 1st!

For more information and to access all the information and forms online, please go to

I'm looking forward to seeing you all at the Stand Down!

He lives alone
In the hills and the trees
He bares his soul
To the cool mountain breeze

He talks to the Spirit
He listens to the Wind
They shield him from memories
Buried deep within

He dreams of the jungle
It beckons to him still
It calls to him each evening
And it always will

The world has forgotten
The sacrifice he made
The scars he bears remind him
Of the high price he paid

Freedom is not given
But with blood it has been bought
By warriors such as he
And by the wars they fought

We can’t forget our warriors
Or let them die in vain
But with respect and honor
We can help to ease their pain

Our Freedom will be taken
If no one will defend
God bless our Forgotten Warriors
Who live to fight again
